When Dr. Guarraia (pronounced GWAR-ee-uh) opened his practice in The Dalles in 2009, he became the Gorge's first full-time cardiologist. Dr. Guarraia offers area heart patients extensive advanced cardiology procedures and a connection to Oregon Health & Science University, where he also serves on the medical school faculty.
Dr. Guarraia earned a graduate degree in drug design and development at the University of Missouri prior to medical school. He also conducted extensive biomedical research at the National Institute of Health, Washington University–St. Louis, and Cornell University. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Arizona and his cardiology fellowship at OHSU, where he is now assistant professor of medicine–cardiovascular medicine.
Dr. Guarraia is board certified in internal medicine, general cardiology and nuclear cardiology. With access to a vast spectrum of resources, Dr. Guarraia is pleased to be able to contribute to the cardiovascular fitness of the Gorge community by bringing expanded specialty services closer to home.
