Quality of Community Life

The Dalles (rhymes with pals) is a diverse community. It is home to many charitable organizations, schools and churches. Lewis and Clark settled here for a spell.

It is home to ranchers and radiologists, artists and agriculturists, writers and world-class athletes.

Country and city dwellers live side by side, sharing a common desire for quality of life.

Award-winning musicians, film festivals and prestigious sports events grace the Columbia River Gorge each year. People of all ages enjoy community theater, arts & crafts exhibits and summer and harvest festivals.

The Mid-Columbia region is home to several museums, including Oregon’s oldest history museum, miles of greenscaped parks, golf courses, vineyards and wineries. It is a community that celebrates the cowboy during the annual Pro Rodeo and collects the works of the internationally recognized French master Auguste Rodin. It is home to cherry, pear and apple orchards.

It is home to the spirit of adventure and the value of simplicity.
