Dr. Robert Florek is a cardiologist at MCMC Cardiology. He is certified
by the National Board of Medical Examiners and board certified in Cardiovascular
Disease, Clinical Electrophysiology, and Internal Medicine.
Dr. Florek completed his undergraduate training at the University of Notre
Dame and received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Minnesota’s
School of Medicine.
While on active duty for the U.S. Army Medical Corps, Dr. Florek took his
internship in Internal Medicine at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Denver,
Colorado, where he also completed his residency in Internal Medicine and
fellowships in Cardiology and Electrophysiology.
While on active duty with the U.S. Army Medical Corps, Dr. Florek began
his career in Internal Medicine at 97th General Hospital in Frankfurt,
Germany. He also served as a staff cardiologist at 2nd General Hospital
in Landstuhl, Germany and a staff cardiologist at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center.
Based on his credentials, professional achievements, and community contributions,
Dr. Florek was recognized in 1989 as a Fellow by the American College
of Cardiology, one of the most distinguished designations the College offers.
He continued his career as a staff cardiologist and electrophysiologist
for Gunderson Health System in La Crosse, Wisconsin and Pacific Heart
Associates in Portland, Oregon.
After serving as medical director of Legacy Health System’s Heart
Electrophysiology and Rhythm section in Portland, Oregon, and chairman
of the cardiology division of Legacy Portland Hospitals, he joined Providence
Hood River Memorial Hospital Heart Clinic as a staff cardiologist.
Dr. Florek specializes in the evaluation and treatment of cardiac rhythm
disorders, including the implantation of cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators.
He believes every patient is unique enjoys tailoring his approach so every
patient can understand their cardiac condition and participate in treatment
Since 2011, Dr. Florek has been serving patients in the Gorge. He encourages
his patients to stay active, and in his free time enjoys staying active
by skiing, mountain biking, windsurfing.
Dr. Florek is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American
Medical Association, the American Heart Association, and the Heart Rhythm Society.
