Biographical Info

Jane is a native Texan who completed her undergraduate education at Rice University, and medical school at Baylor College of Medicine, both in Houston, Texas. She completed a Family Medicine residency and Chief Residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas, in 1986. After completing her residency, she fulfilled a National Health Service Corps scholarship commitment in a Migrant and Community Health Center in the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas. Since 1991, she has been on the faculty in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, with a practice emphasis in Women’s Health, Prevention and a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine. Her academic interests have been focused on teaching at all levels, including pre-medical, medical students, residents and faculty development fellows. She has also been actively involved in several practice transformation/quality improvement initiatives.

Jane is married to John C Rogers, M.D, MPH, MEd. Jane and John first came to the Columbia River Gorge in 2004 and bought land in Mosier in 2005. They finished building their vacation/retirement home in 2012 and have been traveling here regularly to enjoy the Gorge and all that it offers.

Their active lifestyle includes running, hiking, backpacking, whitewater rafting, and mountaineering. They have completed 27 marathons, and several international rafting, hiking and mountaineering trips, including hiking the Inca Trail and rafting the Apurimac River in Peru, the Futaleufu in Chile, and the Ganges in India. They have climbed Mount Shasta in California, Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Aconcagua in Argentina, and Mount Adams in Washington.

While in Houston, they were faculty sponsors of the Baylor student chapter of the Wilderness Medical Society and taught Wilderness First Aid to the general public and Advanced Wilderness Life Support classes to medical professionals, and hope to bring these courses to the community in The Dalles.

They are delighted to finally be able to combine their passions for taking care of patients and enjoying the outdoor activities available in the Gorge.
