Steven Woolpert is a Licensed Professional Counselor at MCMC Behavioral Health.
Steven believes the essence of a therapeutic relationship is respectful
collaboration. He facilitates the change process by meeting people where
they are, listening with compassion, and providing tools, skills, and
resources his patients can use to reach their goals.
He received his BA at Kansas State University and continued his education
at the University of Arizona where he received his MS in Rehabilitation
Counseling. He furthered his professional education at Arizona State University
completing Conjoint Family Counseling with supervision and has additional
trainings with specialized courses & workshops for treatment of addiction
& co-occurring disorders, depression and anxiety, trauma & PTSD,
body-mind therapy, and pain management.
Throughout his more than 40-year career, Steven has served in a variety
of settings, including private practice in Portland, outpatient alcohol
& drug treatment in Portland and at Providence Gorge Counseling &
Treatment in Hood River, and individual, group, and family therapy at
Comprehensive Mental Health in Goldendale, WA.
Steven moved to the Gorge with his wife nearly 20 years ago to enjoy country
living and a fulfilling career serving rural residents of Oregon &
Washington. In his free time, Steven volunteers for Klickitat Trail Conservancy
as a board member and co-leads hikes with them, plus serves as a tour
guide for petroglyph “She Who Watches” trail with the Washington
State Parks. He also enjoys hiking the many beautiful trails in the Gorge
and around Mt Hood & Mt Adams as well as kayaking.
