Robert Bailey was born and raised in The Dalles, Oregon. He earned a Bachelor of Science in business from Oregon State University. He is the owner of a family farm which has been in operation since 1923. In addition to serving on the MCMC Board of Trustees for nearly 20 years, Bob was a founding member of the board, which was established in 1983.
Robert Carnahan was born and raised in Placerville, California. He attended Mt. Hood Community College and received his Bachelor of Science from Portland State University. Rob is a retired fire chief and owner of a technology company focused on public safety. Rob is a member of the MCMC Board of Trustees. He joined the Health Foundation board in 2007.
Shawn Carroll was born in Oregon City and raised in Canby, Oregon. He attended Blue Mountain Community College and received as Associates degree in Radio Broadcasting. Shawn is the Senior Vice President and Retail Market Manager for a local bank. Shawn joined the board in May of 2007.
Jason Corey grew up in Denver, Colorado and Boise, Idaho. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and a law degree at Willamette University. He has been an attorney in The Dalles for more than 20 years. Jason is an active volunteer with The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce and North Wasco County School District. He joined the board in May of 2007.
Eric Holeman earned his bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University followed by his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Washington. He is credentialed as a Pain Management Provider by the American Academy of Pain Management. Eric has been a pharmacist at MCMC for more than 10 years. Eric joined the board in 2015.
Phillip Kaser was born and raised in The Dalles, Oregon. He attended Oregon State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance with a major in building construction. He served three years in the medical service corps and was assigned to NASA’s Apollo project. Phil owners and operates his family farm. Phil served on the MCMC Board of Trustees for 21 years and has served on the Health Foundation board since 1997.
Cynthia Kortge was born in The Dalles, Oregon and raised on a wheat farm near Dufur, Oregon. She graduated from Washing State University where she earned a degree in human development. Cynthia worked as the Assistant Director at Great N Small Child Development Center and later, Director of the award winning Employee Experience Program at Mid-Columbia Medical Center. She joined the board in 2011.
Brian Lauterbach was born and raised in The Dalles, Oregon. He spent much of his career in the tire business, once owning his own successful tire store. Brian currently works in real estate and serves as a board member for The Dalles ACTS. Brian joined the Health Foundation board in 2008.
Dr. Paula Lee-Valkov
Paula Lee-Valkov was board in Port of Spain, Trinidad. She attended MIT and earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering and her Masters in Environmental Health Sciences. She also received her Doctorate at Baylor College of Medicine. She is a Diagnostic Radiologist at Mid-Columbia Medical Center. Dr. Lee-Valkov joined the board in 2008.
Marilyn Nielsen was born and raised right here in The Dalles. Now retired, Marilyn spent 26 years as a personal banker and another 20 years working as a Personal Account Rep for MCMC. Marilyn is currently the President of the MCMC Auxiliary Board and acts as the Director of Education at First Christian Church in The Dalles.
Vesta Smith is a Minnesota native who has relocated to the Columbia River Gorge. She is retired from a healthcare organization where she managed the volunteer department and gift shops. A frequent volunteer at The Dalles Art Center, Vesta loves to meet fellow art enthusiasts. Vesta joined the board in 2015.
Kristi Timmons was born in Pocatello, Idaho. She earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Boise State University, followed by her Master of Business Administration from Portland State University. She works as the Business Manager at a local law firm. Kristi joined the board in 2013.
Frank Toda was born and raised in The Dalles, Oregon. He earned his Bachelor and Master of Business Administration from the University of Portland. He earned both his Master of Science in Systems Management and PhD in Education from the University of Southern California. Currently Dr. Toda is the President of Columbia Gorge Community College. He joined the board in 2003.
