5K Fun Run Nets $4,800 for Level the Playing Field Project

Dashers from all around the Gorge came out for The Color Dash, the first 5K of it’s kind to take place in The Dalles, Oregon.  People of all ages, shapes and sizes came from 71 different zip codes to join in the fun.  Runners, or “Dashers” as we like to call them were showered with a colorful cornstarch mixture as they passed each of the five color stations along the nearly three mile loop.  The grand finale was a dusting of the entire group, not a man, woman, child or dog left without gaining a little brightness!

Thank you to the 40+ volunteers, 1000 dashers and our vendors for helping bring in nearly $10,000 which was split between event partners, The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce and the Mid-Columbia Health Foundation.  The money raised for the Health Foundation will be put to use right away on the Level the Playing Field project which aims to bring upgrades and new Power-Lift equipment to The Dalles High School weight room for all district staff and students.

Color the Gorge 5k took place May 14, 2016 bringing an additional 300+ runner to support the cause.
