Medical Oncology at Celilo Cancer Center

Medical oncology is the specialty focusing on the study and treatment of malignant cancers, or tumors. Treatments can be used to destroy cancer cells, slow the growth of cancer, prevent cancer from spreading, and reduce the symptoms of cancer.

Celilo’s Oncology Treatment Options Include:

  • Chemotherapy, the use of drugs to destroy and kill cancer cells.
  • Hormonal therapy, the use of hormones to treat cancer.
  • Immunotherapy, the use of substances to stimulate or support the immune system.

Treatments vary depending on the type of cancer, treatment goals and drugs used, and how patients respond to treatment.

Our Team Approach

A cancer diagnosis is a frightening experience that comes with difficult decisions to make regarding treatment options. Our team of oncologists, specially trained registered nurses and pharmacists, radiation therapists, dosimetrists, physicists, patient navigators, and counselors help our patients and their families through this process by providing compassionate care, information and support.

Because we understand that cancer affects all aspects of a person’s life, we treat the whole person – body, mind and spirit — not just the cancer. We support our patients with integrative therapies to boost the immune system, reduce treatment–related side effects and improve quality of life. Our integrated therapies team includes a nutritionist, pain management specialist, massage therapist, yoga and Tai Chi instructor, spiritual care professionals, Reiki therapy masters, oncology rehabilitation specialists and others.

We help our patients fight cancer on all fronts. Our goal is to provide patients and their families with sources of inspiration, encouragement and hope.

Celilo Medical Oncology is directed by Dr. Steve Fu. For more information about this department please call 541-296-7585.
