Obstetrics/Women's Health Services

Our First Impressions Birthing Center offers comfortable birthing suites and a homelike birth experience. Our staff balances high tech with a soft touch. Parents-to-be can count on our expert medical staff, up-to-date resources and compassionate care. We're looking forward to sharing this joyful time with you. 
Childbirth Education
Our childbirth education is a series of classes designed for completion during the final trimester of your pregnancy. This series focuses on support activities for the mother-to-be and her support person; labor and delivery techniques, breathing exercises, managing contractions, personal choices and knowing when to come to the hospital are among the topics covered - information couples need to help make their delivery as personalized and comfortable as possible.
Childbirth classes are free!
You may choose from a 3-week series or a weekend course. All classes are held in the Medical Center Office Plaza Conference Room A, 1700 E 19th Street, The Dalles. To pre-register for any of the following classes, please call

Three Week Series classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30pm - 8:30pm for 3 consecutive weeks.

- October 28 - November 13, 2008
Weekend classes are held Saturday and Sunday, 8:30am - 5:00pm. Snacks provided, lunch is on your own.

Lactation Services
In addition to childbirth education we offer a breastfeeding specific class within the series. First Impressions also offers ongoing lactation support for new mothers from on-site lactation specialists, educators and staff nurses.
