Labyrinth

Our terrazzo stone labyrinth is located outdoors in a beautiful natural setting adjacent to the hospital. A replica of the ancient labyrinth built into the floor of France’s Cathedral Notre-Dame de Chartres, our foot-wide path winds to a flower-like center.

Labyrinths are walking meditation paths, winding inward to a center and back out again. Unlike mazes, they hold no wrong turns or dead ends. Where labyrinths ultimately lead is up to those who walk them. Whether battling illness or dealing with the stresses of life, a walk through its circular paths can provide physical and spiritual rejuvenation and rare quiet moments needed for gaining insight and understanding in facing life's challenges.

Oak finger meditation labyrinths are located in the hospital chapel and quiet rooms. Tracing the path in the finger labyrinth can be relaxing. Our labyrinths are available for patients, visitors and community members to use at any time. Our outdoor labyrinth is lit at night.

MCMC offers a Veriditas-trained labyrinth facilitator, available to meet with patients or others upon request. Written material is also available in the hospital chapel or by contacting the Director of Spiritual Care at 541-506-6999 or email.
