Medical Symptom Reduction
This stress-reduction program is for people who want to learn to use their own internal resources to change their relationship to stress, chronic pain or illness. Mindfulness meditation is the core of the program. It involves learning how to have moment to moment awareness of the present, helping individuals avoid being on "automatic pilot," focused on the past or anxiously awaiting the future. This awareness of the present can enable people to respond rather than react to situations, and cultivate a greater sense of calm and well-being.
The benefits of the program include:
- A greater sense of control.
- An increased ability to focus and concentrate.
- Improved relationships with yourself and others.
- Management of life circumstances with greater acceptance.
- An ability to make choices with greater clarity and awareness.
- Enhanced health and well-being.
Is Stress-Reduction right for you? The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program provides positive results for participants and is designed to complement current medical care. Individuals completing the program report improved pain levels, an increased ability to cope with stress, as well as improved self-esteem and enthusiasm for life. The program can benefit people with conditions such as:
- Chronic pain
- High blood pressure
- Headaches
- Sleep disturbance
- Anxiety/panic
- Job or family stress
- Cancer
