Mid-Columbia Health Foundation (MCHF) welcomes two new members to its board of directors, Paula Lee-Valkov, M.D. and Linda Trautz, R.N.

Dr. Lee-Valkov is a diagnostic radiologist, born and raised in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. She moved to the United States after high school. Dr. Lee-Valkov received a B.S. in civil engineering and a master's degree in environmental health sciences from MIT before attending medical school at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston.

The first three years of her radiology residency were spent at Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, completing residency at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane before moving to The Dalles two years ago. She now practices at Mid-Columbia Medical Center.

"I came to this small medical community because there was more opportunity to get involved and help make a difference," says Dr. Lee-Valkov. "As a physician I recognize how important the health foundation's support is to many of the programs and services offered by Mid-Columbia Medical Center. So, serving on the foundation board gives me a second perspective on how to best meet the healthcare needs of people living in the Mid-Columbia."

Dr. Lee-Valkov and her husband Ted have a 16-month-old daughter, Victoria. They enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking and skiing.

Trautz is a registered nurse who has worked at Mid-Columbia Medical Center for more than 30 years. She was born in Boston and raised in southern California. She received her nursing diploma from Los Angeles County Medical Center and her bachelor of science in nursing from Oregon Health & Sciences University. Trautz is a member of the hospital ethics committee and a CASA volunteer.

When she and her husband decided to start a family they felt that the Northwest would be a good place to raise children. They chose The Dalles because her sister lived here.

"I really believe in the hospital and all that it does in this community," says Trautz. "Being a member of the health foundation board gives me an opportunity to help support the good work that is being done."

Trautz and her husband Bill have two grown children. Together they enjoy camping and fly-fishing. Linda also enjoys hiking with friends.

"We truly appreciate the commitment these members of our community have shown by volunteering their time on our board," says Celeste Hill-Thomas, MCHF executive director. "Their ideas and support will help us greatly to fulfill our mission of improving the lives of others in our community."
