Mental Illness and the Family: How to Cope

It is estimated that 54 million people suffer from some form of mental illness in the US in a given year. Mental disorders are common and widespread. But most families are not prepared to cope with a loved one with mental or emotional problems. Symptoms can include changes in mood, personality, and social withdrawal and can be emotionally draining for families coping with difficult behaviors. Mary Zenorini, LCSW, Behavioral Health Consultant of Columbia Hills Family Medicine & Pediatrics will discuss ways for families to cope when a family member is suffering from a mental disorder.
