About
Deeply committed to his patients and the community, Dr. Gingrich has provided
high-quality urologic care in the Gorge area for nearly three decades.
He established Gorge Urology in 1985, and today, with partners Marc McAllister,
MD, and Nathan Ullrich, MD, he continues to fuel the practice's growth
to meet the needs of patients throughout the region. Dr. Gingrich has
an extensive background treating a wide range of urologic conditions,
offering surgical and medical options and treatments for both men and
women. In 1977, he graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine
at only 23 years old. He then worked in a rural health clinic in Twin
Falls, Idaho, where he says his job was to do everything including delivering
babies. While he was originally planning to do a residency in thoracic
surgery, Dr. Gingrich was drawn to urology because of the opportunity
to practice a great variety of surgical procedures and approaches. In
fact, the earliest minimally invasive surgeries were urological. In 1979,
he returned to Loma Linda to complete a general surgery internship and
urology and surgery residency. While he was there, the program became
the highest-rated urological residency program in the country. In 1984,
Dr. Gingrich was offered a faculty position at Loma Linda, but with three
young children, he chose to start a private practice in The Dalles after
visiting the community for just one day with his family. We agreed to
come to MCMC for one day and look he says. We were surprised by how good
the hospital was and how nice the community was. Dr. Gingrich and his
family moved to The Dalles in July 1985. He says his career has been very
rewarding from the standpoint of patient relationships. He is dedicated
to helping patients feel better physically and emotionally. "People
are a pleasure to deal with," says Dr. Gingrich. Dr. Gingrich enjoys
windsurfing and hiking when he's not working. He's certified by
the American Board of Urology.
