Dr. Kim Whitaker is a primary care provider at MCMC Family Medicine. She
is board certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Whitaker loves building connections with her patients and empowering
them to meet important health goals. Her specialties include naturopathy,
obesity, and gender affirmative therapy.
Dr. Whitaker enjoys combining modern medical treatments with preventative
and naturopathic medicine to help patients of all ages and conditions
achieve optimal health. With a background as a naturopath doctor, she
is currently working towards her Fellowship in Integrative Medicine.
She completed her Bachelor of Science in Life Science with honors at McMaster
University in Ontario and received her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine
at The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.
She received her Doctor of Medicine from Saba University School of Medicine
in the Caribbean Netherlands. She completed her residency in family medicine
at the University of Wyoming.
Dr. Whitaker received additional training in Gender Affirmative Therapy
through the World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH).
She prescribes gender affirming hormone therapy as well as safe and equitable
healthcare to the transgender and gender non-conforming community.
She is also pursuing certification through the American Board of Obesity
Medicine (ABOM) to become a board certified obesity medicine specialist.
She currently works with numerous patients to assist them in their weight
loss journey through a variety of techniques, including lifestyle changes,
medications and referral to bariatric surgery if applicable.
Dr. Whitaker is passionate about rural medicine. She fell in love with
the Gorge thanks to the beautiful scenery, world-class outdoor recreation,
and small town environment.
After a life changing injury, which required multiple surgeries and long-term
rehabilitation, Dr. Whitaker enjoys paddle boarding, cycling, and light
hikes. She hopes to discover new activities and hobbies as she builds
a life in the Gorge with her husband and their dogs.
