da Vinci system at MCMC is the latest and most advanced model, one of less
than 12 in the country.
The Dalles, Oregon, Aug. 28, 2018–Mid-Columbia Medical Center recently
acquired the Gorge’s first da Vinci surgical system for a variety
of minimally invasive procedures. The experienced urologists at Gorge
Urology are scheduling da Vinci patients at MCMC, with additional surgical
teams to follow.
“Having the da Vinci robot locally means that patients no longer
have to travel to Portland for medical care, and can have the benefits
of being treated closer to their home and loved ones,” said MCMC
President & CEO Dennis Knox. This advanced technology also boosts
physician recruitment by making MCMC more attractive to the new generation
of surgeons.”
This robotic technology allows doctors to perform complex surgeries with
only a few small incisions. The benefits of robotics-assisted surgery include:
- Less scarring
- Reduced pain
- Less pain medication
- Shorter recovery time
- Fewer complications
- Quicker return to normal daily activities
da Vinci robotics technology is used by all top-ranked hospitals in the
U.S., including Johns Hopkins Hospital, Mayo Clinic hospitals and Memorial
Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
MCMC’s da Vinci System—the latest, most advanced model—is
one of less than 12 in the country and the only one in the Gorge.
“Mid-Columbia Medical Center is proud to offer Gorge residents the
most advanced robotics surgical system,” Knox said. “da Vinci
patients can now have less pain, fewer complications, and faster recovery—without
having to travel to Portland.”
