The Dalles, Oregon, Nov. 1, 2018–The Breast Center at Mid-Columbia
Medical Center has once again earned a full, three-year accreditation
from the American College of Surgeons’ National Accreditation Program
for Breast Centers (NAPBC). Accreditation ensures Gorge patients have
access to the highest quality breast care—without having to leave
their hometown.
Accreditation is only granted to breast centers that provide comprehensive,
compassionate care. Each center goes through a rigorous evaluation process,
including screening and site visits. To maintain accreditation, breast
centers must monitor compliance with NAPBC standards in 17 key areas.
“When patients come to the Breast Center at MCMC, they can feel confident
knowing they will receive the highest quality care,” said Kim Hartley,
RN. “You don’t need to go to Portland for comprehensive breast
care. The Breast Center provides services for women along the entire health
spectrum, which is evidenced by our recent re-accreditation.”
MCMC was the first hospital in Oregon, and today is one of only six in
the state, to earn accreditation. At MCMC, breast patients have access
to a team of highly-trained medical professionals offering a full range
of services, including:
- Comprehensive treatment. MCMC offers a full range of screening and diagnostic
tools, including digital mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, and
advanced treatment options. It also serves as a center for clinical research,
which means patients have access to the most up-to-date information about
ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options.
- Experienced team. MCMC takes a collaborative approach to patient care,
with specialists in pathology, radiology, medical oncology, and oncoplastic
surgery, which combines the best cancer surgery with an aesthetically-pleasing outcome.
- Personalized care. No two patients are alike. That is why MCMC couples
aggressive treatments with holistic therapies such as acupuncture, massage,
meditation, medical exercise, and yoga.
The Breast Center at MCMC provides important resources for women along
the entire health spectrum. By integrating screening, early diagnosis,
patient advocacy and treatment, the breast center covers all breast health needs.
“We are incredibly proud of this accreditation as it underscores
the hard work and dedication of our breast center team,” said MCMC
President & CEO Dennis Knox. “Our providers are committed to
spreading health and wellness throughout the community, which is evidenced
by our many prestigious awards, certifications, and accreditations.”
