We are pleased to announce that Akram Khan, M.D., has recently joined the
staff at the Center for Sleep Medicine at Mid-Columbia Medical Center.
Dr. Khan is board certified in sleep medicine as well as pulmonology and
critical care, and that expertise will be especially helpful for our complicated
patients with overlapping syndromes of lung disease and sleep-related
breathing issues.
Dr. Khan is on staff as a pulmonary critical care physician at OHSU and
will initially be in our clinic approximately one day every other week.
As MCMC and OHSU share our electronic medical record platform, Dr. Khan
will be able to provide continuity of care to MCMC patients even when
he is not in The Dalles.
In addition, MCMC recently purchased 10 new home sleep apnea testing units
that will greatly increase the speed with which we can provide testing.
Home testing is especially helpful at this time, as we seek to reduce
patients’ time out of the home and minimize their contact with others
during this pandemic.
