Helping athletes recover and return to their highest level of competition
quickly and efficiently. The beauty of the Gorge brings with it a sense
of adventure as local residents and visitors alike challenge themselves
with windsurfing, mountain bike riding and hikes to hidden waterfalls.
But whether you’re a thrill-seeker, a high school athlete or simply
find that your aging joints just aren’t what they used to be, most
people eventually need some kind of orthopedic care.
Fortunately for our community, Mid-Columbia Medical Center offers a premier
orthopedic surgery program in the Northwestern United States. In fact,
people from out of the area travel here specifically seeking our world-class
orthopedic services.
MCMC’s Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery program offers a
vast array of resources to patients suffering from sports, bone or muscle-related
health issues. Among the specialty areas included are:
- Arthroscopic surgery
- Total joint replacement
- Surgery for ligaments and tendons
- Sports injury management and prevention
- Foot and ankle conditions
- Fracture treatment
- Physical rehabilitation including aquatic therapy
The orthopedic team at MCMC brings incredible experience to the Gorge and
includes certified athletic trainers, physical therapists and surgeons
who are committed to ensuring that their patients recover safely and efficiently.
The physical therapists at MCMC are skilled at helping patients recover
mobility, restore function to muscles, relieve pain, and limit or prevent
physical disabilities.
The orthopedic program is run by James Reardon, M.D., a graduate of the
University of Missouri School of Medicine, and Doug Beaman, M.D., who
earned his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Michigan. They are
supported by certified Physician Assistants Carly Jackson and Ashlyn Williams.
These versatile and highly trained medical professionals are well known
for their compassionate care, in addition to their medical proficiency.
Consistent with MCMC’s Planetree philosophy of patient-centered care,
the program’s numerous integrated therapies, state-of-the-art facilities
and expert medical professionals are all geared toward providing a holistic
treatment for the patient’s entire body.
“When helping patients recover physically, our treatment plan also
works to address a patient’s emotional and psychological well-being,”
said Dr. Beaman. “In this way, orthopedic medicine is another example
of MCMC’s commitment to empower people to become active partners
in their own health care.”
MCMC’s Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery program has offices
in both The Dalles and Hood River. Its facilities at Water’s Edge
include an aquatic center with three pools, a gym with comprehensive fitness
equipment, a concussion center and an orthopedic center. To learn more,
