Water’s Edge Health and Wellness Center features separate pools for
exercise and water therapy – a three-lane, 25-meter lap pool and
a heated therapy pool.
Our lap pool is kept at a temperature in the low 80s and is used for lap
swimming and water aerobics classes. It is also used for those unable
to tolerate the warmer temperatures of the therapy pool. The warm water
therapy pool is used for low-intensity water exercise, therapeutic movement
or just a warm retreat for no-impact movement. The therapy pool is particularly
good for members managing arthritis or fibromyalgia or members recovering
from surgery or a serious injury that prevents them from participating
in weight-bearing exercise.
The lap pool is generally available during any fitness center hours when
a water aerobics session is not taking place. Be sure to check the
calendar to see when aquatics classes are scheduled as they may change from week to week.
Family swim time is on Saturdays from 1 to 4 pm. Water’s Edge members
and MCMC employees may bring immediate family members with them ($5 for
adults and $3 for children).
Salt Water Pools
All of the pools at Water’s Edge use a sophisticated salt purification
system rather than a traditional chlorine purification system. The salt
is far gentler on your skin, hair, eyes and swimsuit and provides an experience
that’s more like swimming in a lake than a chlorinated pool.
Exercising in water allows many to exercise who might not otherwise be
able to participate in most aerobic classes. In addition to the cardiovascular
benefits, the natural resistance of the water allows you to tone your
muscles without putting any strain on your joints. These classes are a
fun way to begin or maintain your exercise program.
