MCMC Welcomes New COO Larry Kahl

Mid-Columbia Medical Center’s (MCMC) new leadership team is beginning to take shape with CEO Dennis Knox’s hiring of a well-experienced executive Larry Kahl, who will take over as MCMC’s new Chief Operating Officer (COO) on April 9, 2018.

Kahl succeeds Dianne Storby, who is retiring after serving as the previous COO and interim CEO.

“I am excited about the caliber of individual we are adding to our team and I know that he will greatly contribute to our continued success. Larry will help carry MCMC into a new era of care and positive patient outcomes,” stated MCMC President and CEO Dennis Knox.

Kahl comes to MCMC from Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash., where he was Chief Operating Officer for seven of his 11 years. During his career at Grays Harbor he reduced costs while also overseeing an expansion. He also helped the hospital negotiate the highest Medicaid HMO reimbursement in the state.

“My career has been progressing towards an institution like MCMC,” Kahl said. “I’m sure there will be plenty of positive changes in store for staff and patients as MCMC plans for a sustainable future.”

Kahl’s 32-year career includes leadership positions at hospitals in Washington and Wisconsin. He has also served on eight boards and has been a faculty member at three universities around the country.

Kahl graduated Iowa State University with a Bachelors in Business Administration degree then went on to the University of Wisconsin for a Masters of Science.

Kahl is the first executive leadership hire for MCMC’s newest CEO Dennis Knox.
