Integrated Oncology Therapies

At Celilo, we take a different approach to healing. We focus not only on cancer and how it affects the body, but also on how it affects the whole person — body, mind and soul – and his or her loved ones.

The program augments Celilo’s traditional clinical services with an array of complementary therapies, which include: Reiki, pet therapy and a Labyrinth. We offer the following therapies in addition to traditional chemo and radiation therapies.

The ancient Chinese believed that there is a universal life energy called Chi present in every living creature. This energy is said to circulate throughout the body along specific pathways that are called meridians. As long as this energy flows freely throughout the meridians, health is maintained. But once the flow of energy is blocked, or “out of balance,” the system is disrupted and pain and illness can occur.

Acupuncture involves the usually painless insertion of very fine sterile needles at specific points in the body to “free up” the Chi energy and restore normal function. Side effects are minimal, and patients often report feelings of deep relaxation during treatment.

Studies have shown that, in addition to providing an overall feeling of well being, acupuncture may help treat or prevent many of the side effects of radiation treatment and chemotherapy.

Acupuncture treatments are available at Water's Edge all day Monday and Thursday afternoons, call 541-506-5788 to schedule. Acupuncture treatments are available Thursday afternoons at Celilo Cancer Center. Call 541-506-6980 to schedule.

The Reflections program

When a patient is going through Chemo and Radiation, they often have troubling side effects such as hair loss (including their eyebrows), skin conditions like rashes, sensitivity to their normal products, dark circles and so much more....

p> The Reflections program is here to address these issues but even more then that, we give the client a space to just be. To relax, to not be poked and prodded but to feel and look normal again.

When they come in, we offer a foot soak and while soaking, the Oncology trained Aesthetician does a intake and tailors a treatment plan to their needs, so we can treat our clients without harm. The treatment includes a foot soak, a facial with a hand and foot massage. Our highly trained Estheticians have years’ experience with clients going through cancer and are ready to address some of the skin side effects. After the facial, we do makeup and instruct our clients on how to utilize makeup to help them look more like themselves. This program is no cost to the patient, they can come in as often as once a month and up to a year after they are released (It can be part of the survivorship program) The best part is that it’s free to the client. The Celilo Fund pays for the program.

Spa & Mindful Meditation

With serene views and access to a healing garden, our comfortably furnished meditation room is a peaceful place for our patients and their family members to contemplate, sit and breathe, meditate or pray. Guided meditation and journaling is available Tuesdays from 12 to 1 followed by Reiki.

Spiritual Care

Celilo recognizes the vital role spiritual care can play in enhancing the healing potential of many of our patients. Spiritual Care staff members and volunteers are available to offer a caring presence as they listen to attentively our patients’ and/or family members’ concerns, fears or questions regarding treatment or another aspect of their life.

Located outside, directly in front of Celilo, the labyrinth is a tool for walking reflection, relaxation and prayer. As walkers move quietly along the beautiful stone path, they can find strength, peace and awareness to cope with cancer and its effects.

If you find you have a need for the services provided by Spiritual Care call (541) 506-6999.
