Integrated Therapies in The Dalles

Applying Creative Solutions for Over Half a Century

Injury and disease can do more than just harm the body, they can also have a serious impact on the patient’s mental and emotional well-being, as well as their loved ones. Reducing stress and feeling relaxed can make a tremendous impact on your overall health. At Mid-Columbia Medical Center, we have been utilizing integrated therapies to help our patients recover in mind, body, and spirit for over 50 years.

Integrated therapies are designed to create a holistic treatment experience. In addition to your primary care, these treatments can improve your quality of life and help you maintain a positive outlook as you work towards recovery.

Why Use Integrated Therapies?

These types of therapies are meant to help the patient reduce their level of stress, relieve pain, and develop healthier habits. When used as a complement to your primary treatment, integrative treatments encourage a state of physical, mental, and social well-being.

Our integrative therapy services include:

  • Acupuncture: Studies have shown that, in addition to providing an overall feeling of wellness, acupuncture may help treat or prevent many of the side effects of radiation treatment and chemotherapy. Acupuncture helps to stimulate a relaxed sensation and make it easier for the body to heal. Our acupuncturist is a fully accredited member of the medical staff with a master’s degree in Oriental medicine. Treatments are available Monday through Thursday, 9 am to 3:30 pm. Call (541) 506-5788 to make an appointment.
  • Massage Therapy: Since ancient times, massage therapy has been used to stimulate healing, improve circulation, and relieve stress by creating a relaxed feeling in the skin, muscles, and joints. Our therapists offer a variety of techniques tailored to the individual’s needs, including deep body, warm stone, and Thai massage.
  • Yoga: Yoga has proven to be a great way to improve a patient’s outlook and overall well-being when being treated for cancer or other chronic conditions. While it is mostly known for aiding with stress reduction, flexibility, and relaxation, more and more evidence is suggesting there are other long-term benefits. As a gentle, low impact exercise, yoga is a useful form of exercise for people in almost any physical condition.
  • Spiritual Care: Many of our patients contemplate spiritual matters when coping with their condition. Having spiritual needs fulfilled can play a vital role in your ability to relax and remain positive, which is why we provided Spiritual Care staff members and volunteers to listen to thoughts and concerns from both patients and their family upon request.

Develop a Treatment Plan That Meets Your Unique Needs

Our patient-centric philosophy ensures that our patients' holistic well-being is our top priority. As a patient of MCMC, you can expect a holistic healing experience.
